"Grampa" Paul McQuillan (November 1, 1930 to January
Paul G. McQuillan,
75, of Budd Lake, NJ,
passed away January 2, 2006 after a lengthy illness.
Paul was born to Lawrence and (Bridget) Elizabeth
McQuillan in Norwalk,
where he spent his childhood. He was
survived by his sister Mary in Norwalk, CT, sons Dennis in Santa Fe,
in Budd Lake, NJ, and Jim in Jacksonville Beach, FL, grandchildren
Aiden, Shannon, and Lauren, and by cousins Patrick McNulty, Mary
Veronica Sheeran, and James McNulty in Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland,
his mother was born and raised. Paul
played football in high school, college, and as a semi-professional. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served as
a B-36 Bomber radar operator, Staff Sergeant, during the Korean War. Paul earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry
from the University
nearly 45 years in his career with Allied Signal and Honeywell of
NJ, attributing several patents to his name related to the wax and
industry. Paul learned how to play the
violin as a child, became an accomplished violinist and violist, played
symphonies and string quartets, and was a self-described “chamber-music
nut.” The beautiful music that he spun
with his bow
and strings was enjoyed by many people during his lifetime. Also see our music
